Mike is an entrepreneur, author, and creator devoted to building things that genuinely help people thrive. With a career that has spanned launching successful consumer brands—including a beverage startup featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal’s business section—Mike is passionate about turning big ideas into real-world impact.
Earlier in his journey, Mike worked as an AI researcher at Carnegie Mellon, publishing papers with leaders in the field that helped lay the groundwork for today’s large language models and modern advances in artificial intelligence. He’s also a two-time Emmy winner whose creative campaigns have reached hundreds of millions, and he’s collaborated with everyone from Oprah and the Gates Foundation to MTV and Elton John.
Mike’s leadership style is warm, positive, and deeply supportive—he’s someone who believes in personal growth, low stress, and building deep connections with his team. Nick Carter
Co-founder & President
Nick has a proven knack for making big things happen and turning even the most complex operations into smooth, enjoyable experiences. Over the past 15 years, he’s worked closely with Mike to deliver ambitious projects—from leading nationwide campaigns for affordable housing and education to orchestrating large-scale video/photo shoots for clients like Johnson & Johnson, Harvard, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Nick’s management style is all about building genuine connections—he leads by understanding what people need and creating an environment where everyone feels supported and valued. Outside of work, you’ll find him riding motocross, rooting for the Warriors, or traversing the streets of San Francisco with his Siberian Husky and Corgi mix (who will definitely be joining the team once we transition from remote work to in-person).

THE OPPORTUNITY: ABOUT THE POSITION
YOU WILL BE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND MARKETING [STARTING TITLE]
Your job will be all about making big things happen. On a weekly basis, we'll get together and identify the top priorities for the business, and we'll agree on which projects you will take ownership of. Then, it'll be on you to figure out how best to make your projects wildly successful.
YOU WILL HAVE MASSIVE GROWTH POTENTIAL
The company's total revenue for 2024 was $2.1M. Our intention for 2025 is to end the year with a total revenue of $21M (yes, 10X last year). We have a plan that we're confident will achieve this, and we're fully dedicated to pulling it off. (Take a look at the case studies of past projects at x-up.com, and decide for yourself whether you think we have what it takes.)

By the end of 2025, we expect to have a team of 12 to 15 people. By the end of 2026, 50 team members. And, by the end of 2027, a team size around 150.
As the company grows, your role will evolve. At first, you'll be doing a bit of everything. As the team grows, you will move in the direction that is the best match for your talents and interests — possibly becoming COO, CRO, CMO or CFO.
Further down the road, this supplement company will be one of several businesses we operate. As that expansion happens, you will potentially have the opportunity to become CEO of this — or one of the other businesses.
YOU WILL SHARE IN THE FINANCIAL SUCCESS OF THE BUSINESS
Your starting salary will be between $80k and $120k, depending on what you bring to the table.
You will have an exceptional bonus structure, with the potential to take home 2-3X your salary, based entirely on how much the company grows each year.
The more value you deliver to the business, the more your base salary will increase. We fully believe in generous compensation, as long as it's justified by the contribution to the bottom line.
YOU WILL GET REAL-WORLD ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPERIENCE BETTER THAN A HARVARD MBA
You will work in every area of the business — from operations to finance, online advertising, email marketing, customer service, working with contract manufacturers, and much more. In each area, we will look to you to make yourself an expert so you can confidently execute whatever needs to get done. (It's fine if you have zero experience in these areas, as long as you are driven to learn and willing to go deep.)
All of this learning will (without hyperbole) leave you better prepared to launch and run your own business than a business degree from any of the top schools.
YOU WILL TAKE ON AMBITIOUS PROJECTS SUCH AS THESE (SOMETIMES HIRING CONTRACTORS TO HELP):

⭐️ Hire hundreds (and, before long, thousands) of creators, each of which will create and post one video on TikTok every single day for BROQ. Then, we will repeat this process for X. Initially, you will manage the creators.
⭐️ Create email marketing flows for both products
⭐️ Create financial growth models that inform our decision-making.
⭐️ Ensure that all our Amazon, Meta, TikTok and Google ads are performing at the highest possible level. Constantly find ways to improve performance.
⭐️ Send weekly email newsletters to all customers
⭐️ Solve compliance/regulatory issues that periodically come up with Amazon and Google.
⭐️ Build a team of highly competent people who are fully compatible with our values, culture and mission.
WE ARE OPEN TO MAKING THIS POSITION ENTIRELY REMOTE WORK, BUT OUR PREFERENCE IS TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO IS IN—OR SOON MOVING TO—SAN FRANCISCO
To start, you will work remotely, and we'll meet once a week (either via Zoom or in-person, in San Francisco).
Sometime before 2026 begins, we will get an office in San Francisco. The image at the top of this page gives you an idea of the vibe we're after.
Beginning then, our preference is for you to join us 4 days a week in the office, 1 day/week remotely. (But, for the right person, they can continue to work REMOTELY.)

☀️ You have a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
☀️ You believe that no challenge is too great for you to overcome. You have absolute certainty that you're able to figure out how to do anything at all.
☀️ You enjoy taking on hard assignments in areas where you have no knowledge or experience, because (1) you know that this is how you grow and (2) you find it immensely satisfying to succeed at something you previously knew nothing about.
☀️ You believe everything is possible. If we asked you to get us the home addresses for the CEOs of the 10 biggest companies in the US, you'd happily accept the challenge—and you'd find a way to do it by the end of the day.
☀️ You love learning, and you especially enjoy diving in to immerse yourself in something brand new to you.
☀️ You believe you can make yourself an expert in anything in 48 hours. If we told you on a Friday that we needed a plan to 10X the ROAS of our Meta ads (even if you didn't know what "ROAS" means or how Meta ads work), you'd be ready on Monday morning to present a thorough plan, with research/references to support each component of it.
☀️ You recognize that Ego is the Enemy, and you're 100% happy to help in any way you can, no matter how menial. If someone asked you to get coffee, sweep the floor or send some packages, you'd do it with a smile, and it wouldn't bother you one bit. You would never think or say that anything is outside the scope of your job description.
☀️ You're not seeking a "normal job". You couldn't imagine yourself working in a cubicle in a skyscraper. (Or perhaps you've tried that and hated it.)
☀️ You either have experience or a strong interest in e-commerce.
☀️ You either have experience or a strong interest in AI. If we asked you to create an AI agent that could answer any question about either of our products, you'd find a way to get it done in a day, and it would be great.
☀️ You are pretty good with technology. If we said "figure out how to use ChatGPT + make.com to automatically select the best candidates for a job based on criteria we specify and email us their applications", you'd feel 100% comfortable taking this on. (It doesn't matter whether you've done anything like this in the past; you just need to be confident in your ability to figure it out.)
☀️ You are great with people. The kind of person that everyone likes. If asked to supervise/manage others, you'd do so in a way that keeps them energized, motivated and fulfilled. (And if we asked them to rate you as a supervisor, they'd give you 5 stars across the board.)
☀️ You are decent with spreadsheets. You're know your way around Microsoft Excel (or Mac Numbers).
☀️ You are a great communicator. Getting your point across (out loud or in writing) in a way that's compelling and understandable is easy for you.
☀️ You share our dual goals of (a) making a TON of money and (b) making people's lives better. (We will never sell a product that does not improve the lives of the people who use it.)
☀️ You are available right away, and you have no competing work obligations.
